Site Handover for Construction of Modern Students’ Hostels

Machakos University has officially conducted a site handover for the construction of modern students’ hostels, marking a major milestone in the University’s ongoing efforts to enhance student welfare and expand its infrastructure. The project will be undertaken by Zaky Infra Limited, the main contractor responsible for the development.
The ceremony was attended by members of the University Council and the University Management Board, underscoring the institution’s commitment to strengthening facilities that support teaching, learning, and student well-being. The project is expected to be completed within a stipulated period of 18 months.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Chairman of Council, Dr. Peter Maangi Mitiambo, emphasized the importance of timely delivery of the project and urged the contractor to ensure that the work is completed within the agreed timeline. He noted that the construction of the hostels will play a vital role in addressing the accommodation needs of the University’s growing student population.
The Vice-Chancellor of Machakos University, Prof. Joyce J. Agalo, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to enhancing student welfare and creating a conducive environment for learning and personal development. She noted that the provision of safe, secure, and modern accommodation is essential in supporting students’ academic success and overall campus experience.
Prof. Agalo further observed that the project aligns with the University’s vision of becoming a center of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation, as well as its mission of providing quality education, training, research, and innovation for sustainable development.

In response, representatives from Zaky Infra Limited expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to undertake the project and assured the University leadership of their commitment to delivering quality work within the stipulated timeline. The contractor further pledged to work diligently to complete the project within a shorter period than the 18 months provided, demonstrating their dedication to efficiency and excellence.
The construction of the new hostels marks a significant step in Machakos University’s continued investment in modern infrastructure aimed at supporting holistic student development and strengthening the University’s capacity to provide a conducive environment for academic excellence.
