Machakos University Hosts Freedom 250 Celebration

Machakos University proudly hosted the Freedom 250 Celebration , joining the United States of America in marking 250 years of Independence and Excellence. A landmark event that brought together distinguished guests, staff and students.

In her keynote address, the  Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Joyce J. Agalo emphasized the University’s vision of Co‑creating Sustainable Futures, highlighting education as the bridge between heritage and progress. She underscored the importance of empowering students to be agents of change, ambassadors of unity, and champions of excellence.

The celebration provided Machakos University with a unique opportunity to showcase its diverse accomplishments. From academic innovations and research initiatives to vibrant student games and cultural exhibitions, the event reflected the institution’s holistic approach to education and community engagement.

Several students distinguished themselves during the show, winning awards across different categories. Notably, students from the Hospitality Department earned recognition for their outstanding skills and creativity, further affirming the University’s reputation as a Centre of Excellence in hospitality and tourism training. Prof. Agalo further expressed the University’s openness to future collaborations and partnerships, noting that such engagements strengthen institutional capacity, expand student opportunities, and foster global unity.
