Shaping Sustainable Futures through the 5th Industrial Revolution at Machakos University

Machakos University successfully concluded the 7^th International Conference today, 19^th June 2026 under the theme “Leveraging the Fifth Industrial Revolution in Research and Technology for Sustainable Development.”

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joyce J. Agalo, expressed optimism and joy at the remarkable outcomes of the conference, highlighting the extraordinary power of ideas, collaboration, and research in shaping sustainable futures. She emphasized that research must move beyond publications to inform policy, support industry, empower communities, and provide practical solutions to societal challenges.

Representing the Chairman of Council, Dr. Mercy N. Kanyara commended the University for providing a platform that fosters intellectual discourse, innovation, and international collaboration. She lauded the dedication of the organizing committee, staff, and students, and encouraged participants to translate research into action and innovation into impact.

Throughout the conference, participants engaged in inspiring presentations and discussions on emerging technologies, sustainable development, governance, entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship, health systems, and community empowerment. The diversity of participation spanning researchers, students, industry practitioners, policymakers, and development partners underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing global challenges.
