Machakos University held its First‑Years Matriculation Ceremony on Friday, 28th August 2026 at the University Sports Grounds. The event was graced by the Vice‑Chancellor, Prof. Joyce J. Agalo, who warmly welcomed the new students.
In her address, Prof. Agalo congratulated the students for their outstanding performance in the 2025 KCSE and commended their resilience in overcoming challenges to earn admission. She emphasized the University’s vision of excellence in transformative scholarship and community service, urging students to embrace the institution’s core values of creativity, agility, meritocracy, professionalism, integrity, and inclusivity.

She reminded the students to uphold academic integrity, balance freedom with responsibility, and take advantage of opportunities such as the Chancellor’s Scholarship for those that excel well in STEM Programmes and are needy. Prof. Agalo also cautioned against pitfalls such as drugs, dishonesty, and misuse of social media, while encouraging participation in sports, clubs, and community service.
The DVC in charge of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA), Prof. James Muola congratulated the first‑year students and reminded them that academic excellence begins with discipline and commitment. He urged them to maintain full class attendance, engage actively with their lecturers, and make use of the University’s support systems to achieve their goals.The DVC in charge of Administration, Planning and Finance, Prof (CPA) Florence Memba welcomed the students and assured them of the University’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment. She emphasized that the institution continues to invest in infrastructure, resources, and financial support mechanisms to ensure students thrive both academically and socially.
