Completion of Paving Blocks Works and Perimeter Wall Phase II

The Vice-Chancellor of Machakos University, Professor Joyce J. Agalo, officially presided over the handing over of two major infrastructural projects recently completed within the university:

• Precast Concrete Paving Blocks Works, and
• Perimeter Wall Phase II.

In her address during the ceremony, Professor Agalo commended the University Management for their oversight and commitment that led to the successful and timely completion of the projects. She further applauded the teams for upholding quality standards in line with the University’s strategic development goals. The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the continued progress on other major developments, including the ongoing construction of the STEM Building, emphasizing the university’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for learning and innovation.

The Precast Concrete Paving Blocks Works, leading to the University Hotel, was completed with great attention to detail. The project features a well-structured drainage system and inclusive parking facilities for vehicles, motorcycles, and wheelchair users, reinforcing the University’s inclusivity and accessibility agenda.

The Perimeter Wall Phase II, was also handed over during the ceremony, enhancing the University’s physical security. In line with sustainability efforts, solar-powered security lights were installed along the wall to reduce electricity costs and promote environmentally friendly practices.

The event was graced by various stakeholders including:

• Members of the University Council led by Chairperson CPA Felix N. Kilonzi,
• The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joyce J. Agalo,
• University Management and staff,
• Representatives from Nichomatt Construction Ltd and Corban Construction Ltd – the main contractors for the respective projects.

In their remarks, the contractors expressed their gratitude to the Machakos University fraternity for the opportunity to collaborate, describing the institution as one of the most professional and supportive clients they have worked with.
