Day 2 of Admissions and Orientation Week at Machakos University

Machakos University successfully concluded Day 2 of Admissions and Orientation Week on 26th August 2025, as newly admitted students continued their integration into the University community through a series of informative and inspiring sessions led by key University officials.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs) Prof. James Muola, officially welcomed the first-year students, encouraging them to embrace the values of responsibility and independence as they begin their academic journey.

In her address, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration, Planning and Finance), Prof. CPA Florence Memba, emphasized the importance of discipline, adherence to university rules and the pursuit of academic excellence. She reminded students that their mission extends beyond attaining degrees but in acquiring high-quality qualifications grounded in integrity and sound principles.

Mr. Patrick Okemba, the Registrar (Academic and Student Affairs) took the students through critical university regulations and processes. He provided guidance on matters such as student finance, accessing fee statements, programme changes and the registration of course units.

Speaking on the importance of holistic development, the Registrar (Administration and Planning), Dr. Humphrey Omondi, encouraged students to actively participate in university life beyond academics. He urged them to join clubs, societies and other co-curricular activities as part of their personal and professional growth.

The Chief Finance Officer, CPA Francis Wambua, provided insights into the various modes of fee payment and advised students to confirm their semester registration via the student portal to ensure a smooth start to their studies.

During an engaging Q&A session, university officials addressed several pressing concerns raised by the students:

  • Student Identification Cards which will be issued within two weeks.
  • Change of Courses which should be made within the first 14 days after reporting.
  • Portal Access Challenges which should be addressed at the Office of the Registrar ASA.

The day’s activities were marked by a vibrant and interactive atmosphere, reflecting the enthusiasm and eagerness of the incoming class. As they settle into campus life, the new students continue to be warmly integrated into the Machakos University family.

All newly admitted students are cordially invited to attend a Matriculation Ceremony scheduled for 29th August 2025. The event will be presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joyce J. Agalo, and the official matriculation oath will be administered by the Deans of Schools.

This solemn occasion not only marks each student’s formal entry into the institution but also affirms their commitment to uphold its values, rules, and academic integrity.
