Machakos University Celebrates Major Milestone as Public Health Programme Gains Regulatory Recognition

Machakos University proudly marks a significant achievement in of its Bsc in Public Health programme, following the successful indexing of 24 graduates and continuing students by the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council (PHOTC). This crucial step qualifies them to sit for the PHOTC professional examination a key requirement for full professional registration and licensure in the public health field.
This milestone represents a major advancement in aligning the programme with national regulatory standards and underscores the University’s commitment to producing competent, professionally recognized public health practitioners. It also highlights the collaborative efforts of faculty, students, and university leadership in strengthening the quality and credibility of public health training at Machakos University.


During the PHOTC re-inspection visit on 17th July 2025, the Council commended the University for its state-of-the-art training infrastructure. These include the well-equipped Public Health Skills Lab, General Public Health Lab, Food Science Lab, and a Shared Entomology Lab, each fully furnished with registers, lab manuals, and a technician office. The inspection team also expressed satisfaction with the spacious drawing room, which accommodates 70 students, and the computer laboratory equipped with 70 computers installed with AutoCAD 2018 and ArchiCAD 2024.
