Welcome to Machakos University. Machakos University is an academic institution committed in generating and transmitting knowledge, skills and right attitudes through Science, Technology and Innovation for the benefit of humanity. The core mandate of the University is to teach, conduct research, innovate and collaborate, generate new knowledge and provide Community Service.

The office of the Vice-Chancellor is composed of several units reporting directly and answerable to the Vice-Chancellor. These are Council Secretariat, Internal Unit, Administration Assistant / Personal Assistant’s Office, Corporate Affairs, Public Relation and Marketing Office, Customer Care and Internal Audit. However, some units due to their sensitive nature report to the Vice-Chancellor but they are domiciled and are answerable elsewhere. These are Performance Contracting and QMS Office, ICT directorate, Alumni office, and Security Services.

The Vice-Chancellor is the accounting officer and the Academic and Administrative Head of the University and is answerable to the Council for maintaining and promoting the academic efficiency, image and good order of the University. The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for policy matters, planning, and coordination, public relations, fund-raising and general development of the University. By virtue of the office, the Vice-Chancellor is a member of every committee appointed by the Council or Senate, unless otherwise expressly provided. The Vice-Chancellor is the Chairperson of Senate, Chairperson of Associate Professorial Appointments Committee, Chairperson of the University Management Board and Chairperson of the Students Welfare Authority.

At the VC’s office, we work in unison and as a team, we are focused to deliver the mandate of the University. Our aim is to achieve the vision of the University through its laid down mission. It is my hope that this website will be used as a tool to effectively disseminate the necessary information about Machakos University.
